When to Visit a Transmission Shop

Working on a transmission

Transmission shops should not only be visited when there is a transmission problem. For optimal lifespan and function of your transmission, you should regularly visit your transmission shop for preventative maintenance. Here are 3 important reasons to visit a transmission shop:

1.      When You Are Experiencing a Transmission Problem

A transmission problem can come when you least expect it. Usually, there is a sign that will indicate when you have a transmission problem. If you know that your transmission needs to be diagnosed and repaired, then it is important to promptly get it to a transmission shop. There is no other choice than to bring it into a transmission shop. Even small transmission problems need to be addressed as soon as possible to prevent further damaging your transmission.

Some common signs of a transmission problem:

·        Difficulty changing gear

·        Slipping or grinding when changing gears

·        Odd noises, such as humming, whirring or clunking.

2.      When You Think You are Experiencing a Transmission Problem

Sometimes you might have a feeling that your transmission is experiencing issues. You may be uncertain if you have a problem, but your vehicle is just not acting like normal. Shifting issues, strange noises, and overheating are common transmission problems. If you think that you are experiencing transmission problems, it is best to bring your vehicle to a transmission shop just in case. A simple visit could save you a lot when you catch a transmission problem early rather than too late.

3.      When Your Transmission Needs Maintenance

Regular transmission maintenance is a valuable transmission preventative. When you bring your vehicle in for regular maintenance, any transmission issue can get resolved before it becomes a major problem. Taking care of your transmission at least yearly will give you peace of mind that your transmission is in working its optimal condition. Sometimes maintenance doesn’t have anything to do with the transmission itself, but rather the components that work alongside the transmission. Replaces components related to your transmissions, such as clutches, transfer cases, or wheel bearings, are just as important to repair.

If you know or just think that you are experiencing transmission, bring in your vehicle to Eagle Transmission Mesquite. It is even a good idea to bring your vehicle in if your transmission is healthy but hasn’t had any regular maintenance.
