What is a Transmission Slipping?

One of the most common problems that you may encounter is a slipping transmission. Transmission slipping means that it is not shifting smoothly from gear to gear or it’s slipping out of gear while driving.

What Causes Transmission Slipping?

In a manual transmission most of the time slipping is due to a worn-out clutch. Having the clutch replaced normally solves the issue of any slipping. In an automated transmission, slipping can be the result of damaged transmission bands, solenoids, or worn-out clutch plates. It may require replacing some if not all these different parts to fix the slipping problem. Malfunction of a torque converter can cause slipping and damage to the transmission. One of the most common causes of transmission slipping is due to dirty transmission fluid. New and clean fluid will help your gears to shift smoothly and extend the life of your transmission.
