1.Overheating Transmission

When a transmission overheats it causes the transfer case to overheats. If a vehicle is a rear-wheel drive, an overheating transmission will feel hot at the bottom of the vehicle in the passenger area.

2.Odd Sound or Vibrations

Vibrations and noises like whining or grinding can be a sign of a damaged transmission.

3.Shifting Problems

When a vehicle has shifting problems is most likely a problem with the transmission. You will experience constant shaking or chugging, hard shifts that jolt the vehicle. The gears can even shift in and out of gear unexpectantly while the vehicle is moving at any speed. Problems with shifting performance should be checked by a mechanic as soon as possible, since it is can be a hazard to you and others on the road.

4.Poor Performance

If you notice any difference in how your vehicle is driving, it is a good idea to get it diagnosed by a mechanic. Some signs of poor performance are slipping gears, trouble accelerating quickly, unable to accelerate, engine revs or speeds up, etc.

What is the Reason for a Blown Transmission?

The reason for a blown transmission can vary among each transmission. A few reasons may be normal wear and age of the transmission, avoiding transmission maintenance, driving conditions, bad driving habits, heavy towing, or even poor manufacturing design. Poorly manufactured transmissions may have cheap parts or had no quality assurance when it was in production.

It is important for the health of a transmission to the transmission fluid to be regularly checked. Aside from maintenance, make sure to drive your vehicle with care, and know that even a transmission that is well maintained can have failure due to conditions or age.

Rough driving, rough roads, inclement weather, high speeds, heavy towing, constant stop-and-go traffic can all be a factor in a failing transmission, but it is definitely not limited to this list. The most important thing is to get your vehicle diagnosed by a transmission mechanic to get your problem fixed.
