Check transmission fluid is the most common transmission maintenance. If you do it at home, it is easy to only check the transmission fluid level and not the quality of the fluid. Yes, transmission needs a proper amount of transmission fluid, but they also need the fluid to have the correct consistency and quality.


When checking your transmission fluid be sure to observe the level AND the quality. Transmission fluid should be reddish and not brown or black. The scent should not be strong or foul-smelling.
